The Nike SB Dunk Low Supersonics is another sleeper hit from the Purple Box series. Lately, I’ve been into these more under-the-radar SB Dunk releases, and this one caught my eye for a few reasons.
While not an official collab, this pair clearly pulls inspiration from the old Seattle Supersonics jerseys. The bold green and red combo immediately stands out, and the mix of materials makes it even more interesting.
At first, I wasn’t completely sold on these. The colorway felt a little Christmassy, and I wasn’t sure how much I’d actually wear them. But after seeing them in enough on-foot pics on social media, they started to grow on me. I like how the yellow stitching around the swoosh reflects the light and almost gives a 3M-like appearance from afar. When I saw them sitting on CCS at a discount, that sealed the deal—I had to grab a pair.
This pair comes from the Purple Box series and comes with three sets of SB laces: red, yellow, and green. The variety gives some nice customization options!
Materials
Material-wise, these are solid. The overlays are either a very short suede or a nubuck and feel very soft. The toebox has this material that is soft to the touch like a suede but has the appearance of leather, and the tongue features a sports jersey-like mesh that really drives home the theme. Overall, these are well executed, and the quality is in line with other premium SB releases as of late.
Fit & Comfort
Like many SB Dunks, this pair has a snug fit at true to size. The materials offer some flexibility, but I usually go up half a size for a more comfortable feel.
The Zoom Air cushioning isn’t overly plush, but it provides solid support for walking and standing. While not the softest underfoot, they’re comfortable enough for a few hours of wear without any major issues.
If these are sold out in skate shops or online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
